This is a different reflection on happiness than our culture maintains and actively cultivates. Happiness is not found outwardly–in objects, relationships–perceptions of all kinds. It is discovered in the simple allowing of what is inherently present. Thisness.

Maybe that’s why we think we’re happy when we get what we want: because when we get what we want we are not resisting. But if the secret to happiness is not resisting, we could be happy even if we are not getting what we want! Imagine that!
