dumbstruck
daffodils
crack open
blooms swelling
in the frigid air
soon we’ll be
awash in a flood
of yellow joy
spring’s entrance
coastal climate’s gift
in the soul of winter
the grace of it
ignites wonder
as their trumpet
frills unfurl, open
ready,
waiting for bees
I bow to sniff
their floral notes,
obeisance to this
emissary—
life, remembering
