precious cargo

All of us carry precious cargo.

Our cargo may be within or without. Robert Bly refers to it as our five-mile-long bag that we drag along behind.

Perhaps we are not even aware of it. We may nurture hurt, rage, or we may cling to belongings, beliefs, people. Perhaps we harbor I’m-not-good-enough or I’m-better than.

No matter what it is, there is always one main ingredient:

Suffering.

What if–what if–we simply set it down and love what is, right now, with all its complex flavors–joy, grief, pain, humblings, laughter–each eternal moment more exquisite, more precious than any cargo we could imagine.
