intimacy and freedom

Here’s another pointer from Rupert that stopped thought. This is in my own words: awareness, embodied in the human form, is completely intimate with all thoughts, feelings, sensations, perceptions–objects or appearances–of all kinds. At the same time, we are completely free of them. They do not touch awareness in any way. Fully intimate, fully free.

This fawn, creatively hidden by its mother, is intimate with the landscape. It is also free of it.

Of course, we can wrap thought or feeling around any appearance and enmesh ourselves–each of us has had that experience regularly. When we notice that has happened, we can rest in the natural state–not a doing, but an undoing.

  1. Yes, I agree about Rupert. We just signed up for the late March retreat in San Rafael.
I wish I had taken the photo of the little deer. Don’t know how I found it, but it was a long time ago. Generally the photos are ones I’ve taken.
