radical sanity

Radical Sanity is the name of Beth Bellamy’s counseling practice in Bend, Oregon; I am staring at the business card right now. It’s a beautiful name that invites wildness, ignites change.

Our culture is so out of whack that sanity–the actual basing of our understanding on direct experience in the only moment we have–now–is seen as radical. How paradoxical! How truly bizarre!

Can you imagine a life based on direct experience, not on concepts about what we think life is, what it means, or how we feel it should be? I hope that each one of us can imagine that, because that’s the very first, required step to return to freedom.
